BeDebtFree Privacy Policy

BeDebtFree is a personal finance app created by CodeFlight LLC. This privacy policy explains how BeDebtFree uses information and device capabilities.

This policy applies specifically to BeDebtFree. For general information about CodeFlight apps, please see the CodeFlight App Privacy Policy.

Information You Enter

BeDebtFree works only with what you type into it: each debt’s name and type, balances, interest rate, minimum and monthly payments, due day, auto-pay setting, and any optional details you add, such as a credit limit, an account number, a creditor website, or notes. It also keeps the payments, balance updates, interest charges, plans, and milestones you record.

BeDebtFree does not ask for your name, email address, or login details for any bank or creditor, and it does not link to financial accounts.

Where Your Data Is Stored

Your data is stored on your device. If you are signed in to iCloud, BeDebtFree keeps your iPhone, iPad, and Mac in sync through Apple’s iCloud, in the private database of your own Apple Account. CodeFlight has no access to your iCloud data, and BeDebtFree has no server of its own. iCloud is provided by Apple and is covered by Apple’s Privacy Policy.

If iCloud is not available, BeDebtFree stores everything on the device only. The iCloud section of the app’s Settings shows which mode you are in. To stop syncing, turn off iCloud for BeDebtFree in your device’s iCloud settings.

BeDebtFree’s widgets and Apple Watch app show a summary of your plan. That summary is shared only between the app, its widgets on the same device, and your paired Apple Watch.

Privacy Mode

Privacy Mode blurs balances and debt names throughout the app and in widgets, so they are not readable at a glance. Notification text cannot blur, so while Privacy Mode is on, notifications show the debt type in place of its name and mask amounts. Turn it on in Settings › Privacy, from the Dashboard, or with Siri (“Hide my balances in BeDebtFree”). Privacy Mode is a setting on each device and does not sync.

App Lock

App Lock asks for Face ID, Touch ID, Optic ID, or your device passcode before BeDebtFree opens. Turn it on in Settings › Privacy, where you can also choose how long you can be away before it locks again: immediately, or after 1, 5, or 15 minutes. It also locks whenever your device locks. On a Mac you can unlock with Touch ID or your Apple Watch, and lock it at any time from the menu or the Dashboard.

The check is done by your device’s operating system. BeDebtFree only learns whether it succeeded, and never receives your face, fingerprint, or passcode data. App Lock is set separately on each device and does not sync. It covers the app itself; widgets and the Apple Watch app aren’t locked, so use Privacy Mode to hide balances there.

Notifications

If you allow notifications, BeDebtFree schedules due-date reminders, milestone alerts, and a monthly check-in on your device, and, if you’re in the free trial, one reminder three days before it ends. They are created on the device from your own data, and none of their content comes from or passes through CodeFlight.

Exports and Backups

You can export your payment history as a CSV file, your payoff schedule as a PDF, or a full backup as a file. These files are created only when you ask, and they go wherever you choose to save or share them. A backup contains everything you entered, including any account numbers, so keep it somewhere safe.

In-App Purchases and Subscriptions

BeDebtFree includes a two-month free trial with every feature, and starting it needs no account and no payment details. After the trial you can keep using BeDebtFree with a monthly or annual subscription or a one-time lifetime purchase. Without one, the app becomes read-only and your data stays available to view, back up, export, and restore. All purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. CodeFlight never receives your payment details. The app receives only what Apple provides to confirm a purchase, and it checks this on your device.

To keep the trial the same on all your devices, BeDebtFree stores a few dates in your own iCloud key-value storage, part of your private iCloud account. These are when your trial started, the latest date the app has seen, and when you came back after a read-only period. They hold no debts or amounts, and CodeFlight never receives them.

To restore a purchase on a new device, use Restore Purchases in the app’s Settings or on the purchase screen. Manage or cancel a subscription in your Apple Account’s subscription settings. Purchases are subject to Apple’s standard License Agreement.

Crash Reports

BeDebtFree contains no crash-reporting or analytics software. If you have turned on sharing with app developers in your device’s Analytics & Improvements settings, Apple may give CodeFlight crash reports and diagnostics that Apple has already made anonymous.

TestFlight Beta Feedback

If you are testing a beta build through Apple’s TestFlight and choose to send feedback, such as a screenshot with a comment or a crash report, Apple passes it to CodeFlight through App Store Connect. That feedback includes your comment and screenshot, the app version and build, your device model and operating system version, and technical details such as connection type and battery level. A crash report also includes the crash log.

CodeFlight copies this feedback into its private bug tracker so it can be investigated and fixed. Your name and email are not copied. Crash logs are stored with device identifiers removed. Screenshots are stored as you sent them, so if a screenshot shows your balances, consider turning on Privacy Mode before you take it. TestFlight itself is operated by Apple, which collects its own information as described in Apple’s TestFlight terms.

Support Requests

If you contact us through the support form or by email, we receive what you send: your email address, any name you give, your message, and any screenshots you attach. The support form is delivered to us by email through our email service provider. We use this only to answer your request and fix problems.

Data Sharing

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for advertising. BeDebtFree does not track you across apps or websites. We share information only when needed to provide the services described above, to comply with the law, or to protect the rights, safety, or security of CodeFlight, our users, or others.

Data Retention and Deletion

Your BeDebtFree data stays under your control. Deleting a debt, payment, or plan in the app removes it, and when iCloud sync is on the deletion syncs to your other devices. Deleting the app removes the data stored on that device.

TestFlight feedback and support messages are kept as long as needed to resolve the issue, maintain business records, or meet legal obligations. You may ask us to delete them at any time.

Your Choices

You can allow or turn off notifications, and turn iCloud on or off for BeDebtFree, in your device’s Settings. You may contact us to request access to, correction of, or deletion of any personal information you have sent us.

Children’s Privacy

BeDebtFree is not intended for children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Security

Data on your devices is protected by your device’s own security, and data in iCloud by Apple’s. We use reasonable measures to protect the information we receive. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make changes, we will update the effective date on this page.
